Knaresborough Anglers Club

Set in the heart of the Dales near Harrogate, Knaresborough Anglers Club offers members some of the finest trout and grayling fishing in Yorkshire. With five and a half miles of the unspoilt River Nidd and a private three acre lake regularly stocked with rainbow, blue and specimen brown trout, members have access to both premium still-water and river fishing.

Knaresborough Anglers’ Club is one of the premier game angling clubs in Yorkshire. Established in 1875 it has consistently provided top quality trout and grayling fishing on the River Nidd.

The Club has an annual stocking policy which ensures that there is a significant head of high quality brown trout throughout its stretch of river. In addition there is a thriving population of native brown trout and grayling. The river trout season is from 25 March to 30 September, with grayling fishing extending through the winter until the end of the coarse season in March.

In addition to the facilities on the River Nidd, the Club offers superb Stillwater angling on its own lake at Appleby Carr and thereby offers its Members full year-round fly fishing for trout.

Knaresborough Anglers’ have the fishing rights to a 4 mile long prime stretch of the River Nidd between Killinghall Bridge and Hampsthwaite Bridge, on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. There is vehicle parking at both ends and mid-way along the beat on both banks.

Appleby Carr is a picturesque three acre lake with a central island that is home to nesting swans and Canada geese. Bankside seats, casting platforms and a fishing shelter complete the angling experience. The lake is open all year round and is regularly stocked with a mix of rainbow, blue and specimen brown trout.

In addition to the main stretch of fly water the Club also has a 1.5 mile stretch of mixed course and game fishing further downstream towards Wetherby. This contains good stocks of Chub, Barbel and Pike for further variety throughout the year. Day Tickets are available for this stretch.

Membership costs £250.00 per year, plus a joining fee of £100.00. There is currently a waiting list as of 15/02/16.
