The River Nidd is a tributary of the River Ouse in the county of North Yorkshire. The river gets its name for the Celtic word for brilliant, though it is usually stained the colour of tea from all the peat in the area! In its first few miles it is dammed three times to create Angram Reservoir (no fishing) , Scar House Reservoir (Nidderdale Angling Club) and Gouthwaite Reservoir (Private fishing). Gouthwaite is the only lake in the UK that contains Grayling. The upper river valley, Nidderdale, was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1994.
Clubs on the Nidd include Knaresborough Anglers Club, Harrogate Flyfishers Club, Nidderdale Angling Club and others.
